I have hit my latest milestone of one thousand five hundred blogs on this website. Not all of the blogs have been written by me. In the early days, Maggie Kimberl wrote many of the blogs and I have been joined by my nephew, Matt Kohorst who besides doing tasting notes for the blog, also writes an occasional blog. Still, the vast majority of the blogs were written by me.
I wrote a blog about the one thousand blog milestone back in April 2023 and talked briefly about the future of the website so I thought I would write about the future in a bit more detail here. I still find a lot of history to discuss, but I am writing more tasting blogs. This is mostly because I have a lot more whiskey to taste. Every week I get another bottle or two, either shipped to me by the distillery or I find some interesting bottle on the shelf while I am at a liquor store. I think this will continue to be the case in the future, so look for more tasting blogs on Monday or Friday.
I don’t get out as much as I used to do, but I do make trips to distilleries or events and I try to write about them when I do. I hope to get out some more this summer and visit some distilleries in Kentucky that I have not been to yet and write about them. I would also like to visit Denver and visit some of the Colorado distilleries. This is high on my list of places to visit, but I am not sure when I will get to do so.
I continue to have our “whiskey of the month” every month and a “whiskey of the year” once a year in December. I have not gotten any new books for the library lately and I hope to find some new books when I visit distilleries, so look for a few more book reviews in the future. I also have a few more “images of the past” blogs I would like to write in the future. I do have a lot of interesting guests over for drinks on the porch that often lead to some great discussions, so look for blogs about these discussions.
I am almost 68 years old and I have slowed down quite a bit from ten years ago when I started this blog, but I do like writing three blogs a week. It keeps me interested in whiskey and I like sharing this interest with other people. Occasionally I will write a blog that sparks conversation on the subject and I really enjoy that aspect of writing. I hope my readers enjoy this blog as much as I do writing it. The next milestone is two thousand blogs and at the rate I am writing them, look for that milestone in the year 2030.

Congratulations on your milestone!
If anything my whiskey blogging journey is speeding up in my sixties as there’s just so much more stuff to taste & write about!
Long may it last.
