We made a trip to Northern Kentucky because I was asked to do a bottle signing of Fountain Run Bourbon at The Party Source in Newport, Kentucky. The Party Source is a well-known liquor store that has been carrying a large selection of Bourbon and other American whiskeys since the early 1990s. The owner that started the store later sold the store to the employees and founded the New Riff Distillery on the north end of their parking lot. The store has an excellent selection of every spirit, beer and wine, as well as a well-stocked humidor. They have bottle samplings and sometimes bottle signings every Saturday from 1-4 o’clock. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The bottle signing went well. I signed about five cases of Fountain Run Bourbon bottles and saw many of my friends who live in the region. For me, the highlight of the day was when Molly Wellmann stopped by and I gave her a taste of the Bourbon. She liked it quite a bit and that was one person I really hoped would like it. Molly is not only a great mixologist, but also has an excellent palate for whiskey. I did the signing from 1:00 to 4:00 while Rosemary and some other family members went to other places in the area. At 4:00, they picked me up at the store and we went to the Hofbrauhaus in Newport for dinner. The German food and beer there are excellent and we enjoyed a good dinner.

After dinner, I went to Revival Vintage Bottle Shop, a liquor store in Covington, that specializes in old whiskey bottles with some newer bottles from regional distilleries. The store is located on the second floor of the building with the first floor having a cocktail bar. The store has several aisles of old, dusty bottles of spirits. They also have a tasting bar where you can sample some of the old spirits that they have for sale. I was offered a sample of Rittenhouse Rye whiskey from the 1930s and enjoyed it. I talked with one of the proprietors, TK, and we discussed many old bottles and I saw many excellent old bottles for sale in the store. My nephew Jarrod was driving and accompanied me into the store and I was impressed with the excellent questions that he asked and we spent about a half an hour browsing and talking. Revival is well worth a visit.

We left Revival and made the trip home. It was a very fun day and I thank everyone that came by and purchased a bottle of Fountain Run Bourbon.
