Father’s Day will soon be upon us. I have chosen five whiskeys that would make excellent gifts for your father. He will be happy to receive any one of these whiskeys. I have picked these whiskeys because they are readily available at a reasonable price in Kentucky. And add a copy of one of my books, too!
The first whiskey is Old Grand Dad 114. It is a high rye Bourbon and at a reasonable price. You can find this bottle at just about any liquor store and the price in Kentucky is $31.99 at Liquor Barn. Alternatively, if you can find it, the Old Grand Dad 114 Single Barrel is exceptional with an MSRP of about $55.
The second whiskey is Peerless Bourbon. It is an excellent Bourbon made by the sweet mash method of fermentation. It is a bit more expensive than many other Bourbons at $74.99 at Liquor Barn, but well worth the price.

The third whiskey is Michter’s Rye whiskey. Anything you purchase from Michter’s will be well appreciated, but I particularly like their rye whiskey. Michter’s has a low barrel entry proof of 103 and this allows the sweet flavors from the barrel to come out without the harsh tannins you get at a higher barrel entry proof. It costs $49.99 at Liquor Barn.
The fourth whiskey is Woodford Reserve. It is an excellent whiskey from Brown-Forman and either the Bourbon or the Rye whiskey would be well received by any father. At a price of only $29.99 for the Bourbon and $39.99 for the Rye whiskey at Liquor Barn, you can’t go wrong with a bottle of Woodford Reserve.
The last suggestion is Green River Wheated Bourbon. This Bourbon uses wheat instead of rye grain in the mash bill and this gives the Bourbon a nutty flavor and sweeter flavor than the rye recipe. It only costs $32.99 at Liquor Barn and makes an excellent gift to show your appreciation to your father.
These are my picks for gifts on Father’s Day. There are many other excellent whiskeys that are readily available, but these are the whiskeys I would like to receive.
