Chicken Cock Old Glory is a Rye Whiskey blended with Laird’s Apple Brandy. It is an interesting product that Matt and I enjoyed. Here are our tasting notes.

Chicken Cock Old Glory

Proof:100

Age: No Age Statement

Nose:

  • Mike: Caramel, rye grass, apples, nutmeg and oak wood.
  • Matt: Caramel, rye grass, just a hint of apples, cedar and oak wood.

Taste:

  • Mike: Rye grass, caramel, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry brings the apple forward and adds cardamom spice. Tasted with a pecan and the caramel is enhanced and white pepper comes out in the taste.
  • Matt: Vanilla, caramel, honeysuckle floral notes, green apple, ginger and oak wood. The dried cranberry added cinnamon to the taste. The pecan enhanced the caramel and added cinnamon and pine nuts to the taste.

Finish:

  • Mike: Medium long with oak wood, apples and cinnamon spice. The dried cranberry added cardamom spice. The pecan made the finish long and spicy with oak wood, caramel and white pepper.
  • Matt: Medium long with oak wood and ginger. The dried cranberry added cinnamon to the finish. The pecan made the finish long and spicy with oak wood, ginger and cinnamon red hot candy.

I would pair this  with a cigar that is rich in vanilla and dried fruit in the smoke. I would reach for a My Father  Blue cigar.
