The other day I received a sample bottle of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength whiskey. Matt and I sat down and tasted it and here are our tasting notes.

Angel’s Envy Cask Strength 2024

Proof: 118.8

Age: No Age Statement

Nose:

  • Mike: Vanilla, caramel, port wine, cinnamon and oak wood.
  • Matt: Vanilla, brown sugar, latte, oak wood.

Taste:

  • Mike: Vanilla, caramel, raisins, cinnamon and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and a raspberry flavor comes out to join the party. Tasted with a pecan and the caramel and oak wood are enhanced.
  • Matt: Caramel, vanilla, brown sugar and oak wood. The dried cranberry made the caramel a rich buttered toffee. The pecan brought out flavors of plum and toasted nuts.

Finish:

  • Mike: Medium long with oak wood, raisins and cinnamon. The dried cranberry added some lingering vanilla to the finish. The pecan made the finish very long with oak wood and cinnamon.
  • Matt: Medium long with oak wood, cinnamon and lingering caramel. The dried cranberry made the finish spicy with oak wood and cinnamon. The pecan made the finish very long with oak wood, cinnamon and lingering brown sugar.

I would pair this whiskey with a NUB Habano cigar. I think the rich tobacco and vanilla in the smoke would pair well with the caramel of the whiskey.
