Matt and I have been impressed with the 15 Stars whiskeys. They have a good palate as far as we are concerned. They are a blending company and purchased some good barrels and blended them in a masterful manner. The Three Kings whiskey is a blend of Bourbon, Rye and Wheat whiskeys. They sent me a bottle several weeks ago and Matt and I sat down and tasted it the other day. Here are our tasting notes.

15 Stars Three Kings Whiskey

Proof: 107

Age: Eleven Years Old

Nose:

  • Mike: Very soft nose – Vanilla, citrus, floral notes, oak wood.
  • Matt: Vanilla, dark fruit, leather and oak wood.

Taste:

  • Mike: Vanilla, orange zest, cardamom, oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and black pepper comes out. Tasted with a pecan and the vanilla is enhanced and apple notes come out.
  • Matt: Vanilla, cola, coffee beans, raisins, white pepper and oak wood. The dried cranberry made the vanilla a rich caramel. The pecan brought out notes of chocolate.

Finish:

  • Mike: Medium long with oak wood, cardamom and lingering orange zest. The dried cranberry made it long and spicy with oak wood and black pepper. The pecan made the finish long with oak wood and vanilla.
  • Matt: Medium long with oak, leather and pepper spice. The dried cranberry added coffee to the finish. The pecan made the finish long with oak, leather and raisins.

I would pair this whiskey with a NUB Maduro cigar. I think the vanilla and chocolate in the smoke would pair well with the vanilla in the whiskey.
