I personally like autumn. I love the warm days and cool nights. I like sitting by the fire pit at night with some friends and a good cocktail and a cigar. I thought I would write about some cocktails with a fall theme.
The first cocktail comes from the Hard Truth Distillery. The recipe was written on a board in their tasting room, so I am sure they would not mind me giving it here.
Maple Bourbon Cream Cocktail
2 Ounces Hard Truth Bourbon
2 Ounces Maple syrup
2 Ounces Heavy Cream
1 Ounce Brown Sugar simple syrup
Shake well over ice and pour into a rocks glass.
Another cocktail that has become a favorite is the Pear Manhattan. I love a good pear brandy and this is a refreshing cocktail for sitting by the fire pit.
Pear Manhattan
1.5 Ounces Pear Brandy
1.5 Ounces Sweet Vermouth
2-3 drops Angostura Bitters
Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and stir until cold. Pour in a Manhattan glass and garnish with an orange peel.
The next recipes come from the Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book by Joy Perrine and Susan Reigler.
Hot Kentucky Bourbon Cider
4 Ounces hot apple cider
2 Ounces Bourbon
1 Ounce brown sugar simple syrup
Pour apple cider into a large heat-proof mug. Add Bourbon and syrup; stir. Garnish with a slice of apple and some cinnamon.
Green Demon
1 ½ Ounce Bourbon
1/2 Ounce Dumante pistachio liqueur
1 Ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
A few drops of green food coloring
Combine, shake over ice and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a green gummy worm.
These are a few of the autumn inspired cocktails that I enjoy. I hope you enjoy them as well and will share your favorite recipes.
