Mike And Matt Taste Ghostwood Four Grain Bourbon

Ghostwood Four Grain Bourbon is bottled in Belgrade, Montana. The brand was inspired by the dark nights around the campfire in the Montana woods. I was sent a bottle of this Bourbon the other day and Matt and I sat down to taste it. Here are our tasting notes.

Ghostwood Four Grain Bourbon

Age: No Age Statement

Nose:

Mike: Vanilla, pears, black pepper and oak wood.
Matt: Vanilla, raspberries, cedar and oak woods.

Taste:

Mike: Vanilla, pears, black pepper and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and the black pepper is enhanced and red pepper flakes come forward. Tasted with a pecan and the vanilla becomes a caramel.
Matt: Vanilla, raspberry cream, cardamom and oak wood. The dried cranberry brought out coffee and hazelnuts. The pecan added a note of cherries.

Finish:

Mike: Short and thin with oak wood and black pepper. The dried cranberry made the finish longer with a better mouth-feel. The pecan made the finish long with oak wood, black pepper and lingering caramel.
Matt: Short with oak wood and red pepper flakes. The dried cranberry added hazelnut to the finish. The pecan made the finish longer with oak and hazelnuts.

I would pair this Bourbon with a cigar that is rich in vanilla and tobacco notes in the smoke. I would reach for a NUB Maduro cigar.
