The other day, when we attended a tasting at Rabbit Hole Distillery, they presented us with gift bags that contained these books. I find them interesting in that they are pairing cocktails and sometimes food, with music from the 1950s through the 2000s.
Booze & Vinyl, Andre Darlington & Tenaya Darlington, New York, N.Y., Running Press Hachette Book Group, 2018 & 2022. Contents, Illustrations, Index, 223 pp. & 193 pp.
Booze and Vinyl takes different music groups from the 1950s through the 2000s and pairs their music with cocktails and sometimes food. For example, the first artist in Volume Two is Jimi Hendrix Experience and they pair the music with a side A cocktail – Purple Haze and a side B cocktail – Foxey Hendricks. The cocktails are mostly drinks the authors have created, but are sometimes a classic cocktail. At random times they will throw in a food recipe for the artist. Sometimes there is a stated reason for the pairing, such as, Elvis Costello is a vegetarian and they give a recipe for a meatless club sandwich, but other times it just seems random as to why they decided to place a food recipe with the artist.

The books are well designed and attractive. They are illustrated with many color photographs of the cocktails and each artist has a color illustration at the introduction of the artist. There is an index that makes finding each artist, and recipes very easy.
I am glad to enter these books into my spirits library. I enjoy the pairings that the authors make with the music and cocktails.

I’m so glad to see this review. I have seen these books and considered them and now I might just need to pick one up the next time.
