One of my main goals for the Bourbonveach website is to make it something that spreads knowledge about American Whiskey. Book reviews are a vital part of that knowledge. I enjoy doing book reviews. They are on a variety of subjects that include not just history, but travel to Bourbon Country, cocktails and food. These subjects play an important part of our understanding of American Whiskey. The knowledge of the history of American distilling is important to the understanding of where we are today with the products we all love. A good cocktail or a dinner recipe adds to the enjoyment of American Whiskey. I also think it is important to support the authors of these books by spreading the knowledge of their books.

Some of my favorite books deal with a combination of history and tasting notes. The Book of Bourbon and Other Fine American Whiskeys by Gary and Mardee Regan is a fine example of this combination of history and tasting and also includes some great cocktail and food recipes. Some of the books are older and out of print, but play an important part in my research. Downard’s Dictionary of the History of the American Brewing and Distilling Industries is an example of books out of print. It is important to know that these books exist and can be found for the younger scholars of distilling history. Cocktail books also play an important part in my library. I like cocktail books that give some history of the cocktail as well as the recipe but I also like historic cocktail books like the Old Mr. Boston cocktail books.
Book reviews are an important part of Bourbonveach. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
