Ghostwood Four Grain Bourbon is bottled in Belgrade, Montana. The brand was inspired by the dark nights around the campfire in the Montana woods. I was sent a bottle of this Bourbon the other day and Matt and I sat down to taste it. Here are our tasting notes.
Ghostwood Four Grain Bourbon

Age: No Age Statement
Nose:
- Mike: Vanilla, pears, black pepper and oak wood.
- Matt: Vanilla, raspberries, cedar and oak woods.
Taste:
- Mike: Vanilla, pears, black pepper and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and the black pepper is enhanced and red pepper flakes come forward. Tasted with a pecan and the vanilla becomes a caramel.
- Matt: Vanilla, raspberry cream, cardamom and oak wood. The dried cranberry brought out coffee and hazelnuts. The pecan added a note of cherries.
Finish:
- Mike: Short and thin with oak wood and black pepper. The dried cranberry made the finish longer with a better mouth-feel. The pecan made the finish long with oak wood, black pepper and lingering caramel.
- Matt: Short with oak wood and red pepper flakes. The dried cranberry added hazelnut to the finish. The pecan made the finish longer with oak and hazelnuts.
I would pair this Bourbon with a cigar that is rich in vanilla and tobacco notes in the smoke. I would reach for a NUB Maduro cigar.
