Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged Bourbon has quickly become a favorite Bourbon for Matt and myself. It reminds me of the Maker’s Mark from the 1970s with lots of caramel and apple fruit. This is the latest release of the Cellar Aged Bourbon. It lives up to the quality of the past two releases. They recently sent me a bottle of this whiskey for review. The mash bill is 74% eleven year old Bourbon, 10% thirteen year old Bourbon and 16% fourteen year old Bourbon. It has a rich amber color and was bottled at barrel strength of 112.9 proof. Matt and I sat down the other day and tasted it and here are our tasting notes.

Age: Eleven Years Old
Nose:
- Mike: caramel, apples, baking spices and oak wood.
- Matt: Caramel, milk chocolate, mocha, toasted pine nuts and oak wood.
Taste:
- Mike: Caramel, apples, cardamom and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry brings out cinnamon and nutmeg. Tasted with a pecan and black pepper comes forward.
- Matt: Caramel, mocha, mint, ripe red apples and oak wood. The dried cranberry brought out prune juice, cream and brown sugar. The pecan enhanced the mocha and added a note of coffee.
Finish:
- Mike: Medium long with oak wood and caramel. The dried cranberry added cinnamon and nutmeg to the finish. The pecan made the finish long and spicy with oak wood, black pepper and lingering caramel.
- Matt: Medium long with oak wood and toasted nuts. The dried cranberry added a creamy note to the finish. The pecan made the finish long with oak wood, toasted nuts and coffee.
I would pair this fine Bourbon with a My Father Flor de las Antillas Maduro cigar. The caramel and dried fruit notes in the smoke pairs well with the caramel and fruit of the Bourbon.
