Oxmoor Farm in Louisville, Kentucky was the family home for the Bullitt family for over two centuries. They include several members of the family that were lawyers for the Bourbon industry. They have created a tour of the house that includes much of the history and introduced a Bourbon brand with the name on the label. You can only get Oxmoor Bourbons at the estate and I highly recommend the tour to people who love Bourbon history. The tour includes a tasting of these Bourbons and a chance to purchase bottles. They source their Bourbon and the tour does not include a distillery, but it is well worth the trip to the farm for the history and the bottles. I recently did an event at the farm and was gifted a bottle of their single barrel Bourbon. Matt and I sat down to taste it the other day and these are our tasting notes.
Oxmoor Single Barrel Bourbon

Age: Eight Years Old
Nose:
- Mike: Vanilla, apples, baking spices and oak wood.
- Matt: Caramel, brown sugar, peanuts, dates and oak wood.
Taste:
- Mike: Vanilla, apples, cinnamon and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and the apple comes forward. Tasted with a pecan and rich caramel and chocolate come out to join the party.
- Matt: Caramel, peanut butter, dates and heavy charred oak wood. The dried cranberry added butterscotch and burnt peanut to the flavor. The pecan enhanced the oak wood.
Finish:
- Mike: Medium long with oak wood and cinnamon. The dried cranberry made the finish long with lots of oak wood, apple and a hint of cinnamon. The pecan made the finish very long with oak wood and caramel.
- Matt: Medium long with oak and caramel. The dried cranberry made the finish long with oak wood and butterscotch. The pecan made the finish very long with oak wood, caramel and cedar.
I would pair this fine Bourbon with a cigar that has a lot of vanilla and dried fruit in the smoke. I would reach for a Don Pepin Garcia Original cigar.
