I recently received a bottle of a limited edition whiskey from Rabbit Hole: Raceking Cask Strength Double Chocolate Malt Bourbon. I love chocolate malt in small amounts and I am not sure what “Double Chocolate Malt” means, so I was excited to taste this whiskey. Matt and I sat down to taste the Bourbon the other day and here are our tasting notes.
Rabbit Hole Double Chocolate Malt Bourbon

Age: No Age Statement
Nose:
- Mike: Chocolate, coffee, vanilla and oak wood – a very simple nose.
- Matt: Not complex – a chocolate éclair with a bit of oak wood.
Taste:
- Mike: Chocolate, vanilla, cherry fruit, nutmeg spice and oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and the cherry fruit flavor is enhanced and cinnamon spice joins the party. Tasted with a pecan and the chocolate and oak take center stage with the fruit and spice moving to a backup role.
- Matt: Hershey chocolate syrup, vanilla and oak. The dried cranberry made the chocolate a rich dark chocolate. The pecan added blackberry fruit to the taste.
Finish:
- Mike: Medium long with chocolate, oak and nutmeg spice. The dried cranberry added some cinnamon spice to the finish. The pecan made the finish very long; the finish was dominated by the chocolate and oak wood.
- Matt: Medium long with chocolate and oak wood. The dried cranberry added notes of vanilla to the finish. The pecan added lingering blackberry fruit to the finish.
I would pair this Bourbon with my favorite My Father the Judge cigar. The rich vanilla and chocolate in the smoke would pair well with the Bourbon’s chocolate notes.
