Mike And Matt Taste Dueling Grounds Distillery Whiskeys

This post sponsored by the Glencairn Whisky Glass

I recently visited the Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin, Kentucky and brought back three bottles of their products to taste with Matt. Matt had never done a tasting that included a new make spirit, and two other aged Bourbons before, and he found this an interesting experience. He had a chance to better understand what flavors come from the grains, yeast, water and distillation process and what comes from maturation of the whiskey. These three products are all from a wheated Bourbon mash bill. They have a 120 barrel entry proof. Here are our tasting notes.

I would pair these whiskeys with a cigar with lots of vanilla notes in the smoke. I think I would reach for a Herrera Esteli by Drew Estate.
