Off Hours Bourbon is bottled by Off Hours Spirits and made by MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The packaging is simple, but attractive. The label is reminiscent of a 19th century label, being very plain without a lot of detail. The bottle caught my eye while I was in Westport Whiskey & Wine and I decided to pick it up. The price was less than fifty dollars and it had a good color and no age statement, so it is at least four years old. Matt and I sat down and tasted it and here are our tasting notes.
Off Hours Bourbon

Age: No Age Statement
Nose:
- Mike: Vanilla cream and marshmallows with a little dried fruit – dates or cherries, with a hint of oak wood.
- Matt: Marshmallow cream, vanilla with a hint of dates and oak wood.
Taste:
- Mike: Vanilla and dates with some baking spices –cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, with some sweet oak wood. Tasted with a dried cranberry and the vanilla and spice come forward making it very sweet. Tasted with a pecan and a note of citrus comes out to join the dates in the fruit flavor.
- Matt: Marshmallows and vanilla latte coffee sprinkled with a little nutmeg. The dried cranberry enhanced the vanilla and nutmeg and brought out a little orange zest note. The pecan enhanced the orange zest note and the nutmeg spice.
Finish:
- Mike: Medium long with lots of oak and baking spices. The dried cranberry made the finish shorter and reduced the spice note. The pecan made the finish longer with a little more oak wood and a lingering citrus note of orange zest.
- Matt: A long finish with oak and white pepper. The dried cranberry enhanced the white pepper spice. The pecan made the finish very peppery with some dry oak wood.
I would pair this Bourbon with a cigar that has some rich vanilla or chocolate notes in the smoke. I think I might reach for a Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial cigar. It has the rich vanilla notes in the smoke that would pair well with the vanilla and spice of the Bourbon.
